“I applied to SCALA for 2 reasons:
1.) Already having some experience as a model I felt I needed a refresher course and new training.
2.) A valued friend took the SCALA classes and loved them. I definitely concur with her opinion and I got the added knowledge and confirmation of my thoughts on modeling . So for me this was a success.
Every class I took provided valuable knowledge especially the Pose Management. I would say that with the runway classes, maybe some additional training on how to walk difficult runways. For example, the X runway to make that 90 degree turn, one can use the shift and arrow key to turn. Might not be something Krypt likes to have models do, but just saying it’s another way to manage a runway.
Honestly, I reviewed many other agencies and so many included classes on things I already know how to do so SCALA was perfect for me as I have some experience modeling already. From my perspective, SCALA brings a fresh approach to modeling in SL.”

“My experience training at SCALA Models Academy was a marvelous process.
The first classes about the school philosophy were very reassuring , and gave me a better view of myself.
Blog classes were fantastically well organized and with many technical bits that will be used in any situation. Smiling. Although to make a blog, was at same time incredibly difficult and showed me it could be fun, if anyone read what I wrote. Rsrsrsrsrsrsrsrs
Class about changing the Avi – Shaping – gave a new vision of the possibilities we have about our shape and skin, which also will be used in any situation , not only professionally.
Then poses, catwalk , runway. God. That’s … like to try ( like a song says………)to reach an impossible dream for ME.
The teachers were amazing: patient, helpful, caring, trying with all they could to make me feel I could reach……….smiles…. the impossible dream.
The classes were given with care and all possible situations we would have to face in the professional career . They were conducted very professionally and with the utmost care for the student feel .
“you can do it” .
All in all , my experience training at SCALA Models Academy was an adventure full of learning, caring, laughing and for me ( at the end) stressful.
but … Thats Life. We have to give to receive.

Thank you to Sea, Wicca, Kryptonia for this opportunity to become a better person and to overcome some of my difficulties.
Kisses, queridas.”

“The whole experience has been incredible. Very talented instructors, knowledgeable and yet, interesting to captive the attention. I always learn much from gifted people.
The one big class, or topic, that really gave me confidence, and understanding, was the social media and confidence to create pictures. I have never felt so limited as i was in my last competition, limited on my ability to social media, blogging and photography. After 7 years, I am actually able to and understand how to make a good photos.

Actions, speaks louder than words. It was truly a worth while experience. Being there to support the other students, brought us all closer together, life long friendships.”

“I wish I could limit this to fewer words but this has been one of the most beautiful experiences for me in Second Life and I will hold it very close to my heart forever.

What does professionalism mean to you?
By what criteria will you measure your success?
Starting from basic development of the thought process of a model in Second Life going on to making you runway ready and confident – SCALA will cover it all.

Sea & Wicca have been the core to my confidence to look outside of acceptable, to be okay to express myself in the style of Ruby and every single time to be confident after all sorts of bashful comments that the world outside can pass to you. Validation is not necessarily external and comment should not necessarily break you but make you!!
Each class of the schedule adds value to you – It did to me and it was in just the right time for me. From what it means to style with the challenges from Wicca that kept me up all night to the time that I started the journey of the evolution of Ruby in the shaping class.

Linda’s inputs on blogging I believe have not only improved the quality of pictures of my blog and the means I use to socialize it they have helped me answer some basic questions like why do I blog.
With Kryptonia you learn how to execute the complete package of the learning on a runway with the clock ticking by just as fast as your heart beats. Krypt does not only expose you to interesting runway’s she makes you a model who will see a challenge and say Bring It On cause she constantly evolves the models to realize and acknowledge the viewer experience in a show.

The things I want to carry into my life in general (across both realms) after having spent three months with the SCALA team are
1. Be open and professional to feedback – we all have our opinions and as models we are required to present to the larger audience the designer / creators dream or vision. Be open to feedback and quick to adapt.
2. Professionalism is the key – you will be known now just for the beauty of your Avatar and the creativity of your styling – But for your value as a team member, as a dependable model and as a honest person. Treat your career in modeling on second life with as much professionalism as you would to one in real and enjoy as you move along.
3. You can never be too old for practice, for seeking help and for knowing your mentors in SCALA want your success and will support you along the way
The above is my opinion and my version of learning’s from SCALA – these will have the flavor of what I needed and gained, however; one can’t deny the fact that development is a very personal experience and thus each of us come out of the process transformed , evolved differently. “

” Being a student at SCALA has definitely changed me in some ways for the better.
I feel like i truly grew as a model with knowledge, structure, and confidence. From the start of the classes i always felt comfortable in the class environment. I was able to ask all my questions to each of the teachers. I never felt like i was just a number in SCALA. Classes were very organized and well thought out in my opinion. I do love the in depth conversations each teacher provided to us about modeling.
In my opinion SCALA is the school to attend if you want to become a model or even further yourself as a model. I feel like SCALA covers everything major part of being a model in SL and I have enjoyed the school through out every class that was provided.”

“My experience training at SCALA Models Academy is one I shall treasure for years to come!
The entire term was awesome for me in so many ways. having just returned to second Life after more than one years time, I wanted to reacquaint myself with the world of modeling. boy, was I ever surprised!
First, there was this lady Seashell Dench, whom I came to admire greatly. One of the most compassionate individuals I have met. She taught me a true philosophy of modeling. Understand more now- I certainly do! most important was the understanding of how to proclaim that at any time on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest- “I am a ten!”

Next, I was up close and personal with a model I have admired for years- the awesome Wicca Merlin! Now talk about styling and what it means to be fierce! Wow! I learned that colors that I did not think would match, would. that just because I have many pieces of jewelry, I may not need to wear all, lol. that different genres at times cross borders, etc. Also learned some neat tricks to keeping inventories at a reasonable level. All in all, I can say I do not have to be overly careful with my stylings as my personality will shine through also. And at the end- she say, “Xio, you look as grown woman now”. I rested well that night. What an awesome compliment for myself.

So, now we were back once again with Seashell for shaping. This class was most important for me as I wished to recreate my avatar to a look that was more as model as opposed to beauty queen. Now do not get me wrong, I still have beauty queen look, lol, but wanted to have a fierce look for runway shows. Seashell taught us to properly use sliders for changes. And exactly what sliders to move! All along I thought I moved the right ones, glad I have that knowledge! And I have a new Xiomara!

And then a reunion!! I get an instructor from an earlier academy- Linda Reddevil! now this class was not to be one of my strong points as it was for blogging, and I did not care too much for that. Was I in for a shock! Linda expressed how blogging was a great way to present ourselves in a positive light and the benefit of blogging for designers. She also helped with teaching of what it means to become syndicated. And guess what? After my homework assignment, I became so engrossed with blogging that I went on for the syndications and now proudly am syndicated with some of the best feeds of Second Life and I blog for some really great designers and events! Thank you so very much for the patience with answering my many questions!!

Back to Seashell for pose management. OMG! My favorite poses I guess I did not see too clearly before. Feet in air or swung to the side! lol Here I learned to look as calm, confident model. To ensure my poses actually accented the attire that was styled as opposed to just walking a straight line, stopping, and throwing out a pose. now I see a new light for when I take that first step onto the runway!
And then comes Kryptonia Paperdoll. Jesus! Talk about a catwalk specialist! we learned the importance of timing, camera angles, knowing how to operate different communicative devices, and much more. The lady has my fingers twisted so many times, lol. but I came away with knowledge that I can use to walk with anyone directing, and any stage. Great workouts we had and much fun to learn in the manner she taught. Kept us focused and tense at same time. You never know which direction she is going to take you!

Many thanks to all of the instructors of SCALA. Awesome academy of learning. Much to take in and to use. I feel this course should be sought after by all models. This academy will make you to believe strongly in your newly acquired skills and boost your morale to make you wish to do more. And I shall!! Thank you again!”

Graduation is always a bittersweet moment to all SCALA’s Academy staff.
Joy, because these models will now have amazing tools to succeed in a tough competitive job. And that feeling of empty nest – our “children” have grown up and they are now on their way to life and success.

To each of them, we wish all the best. Go after your dreams, make them come true. And remember, to be a Model is to be professional to the core, to leave all ego behind and work for others. Be flexible yes, but never lose yourself in the process. One day, when you feel you have achieved success, come back here to this page and remember where you started: humbleness is part of the job.
Thank you all!
